Holy Week 2023 Semana Santa is Sunday-Saturday, April 2-8, 2023. Religious reenactments were a form of educational theatre in pre-literate communities during the Colonial Era, when the church controlled every aspect of life. These traditions remain popular in the Americas, and around the world. In the northern agricultural cycle, it’s the time of renewal. Every little town has its own unique version of the spring rituals.
