Things to do in New York in August 2019

August 2019 brings the Ecuadorian Parade, Dominican Day Parade, Ecuadorian Festival, Battery Dance Festival, New York Latino Film Festival, Afropunk, U.S. Open Tennis and the New York International Salsa Congress to New York City.

It’s the 400th Anniversary of slavery in the colonies that became the United States.

Brasil SummerFest, BRIC Celebration Brooklyn, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and NYC Restaurant Week finish up. Harlem Week continues all month long.

Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Uruguay have national days. The European soccer season starts.

Labor Day Weekend is the big holiday. New York City slows down in the last two weeks of August as people take vacations.
