Saints, Orishas, Loas, Inkices and Angels are mythological or historic figures who inspire faith through their good works. We tend to associate them with our own faith point of view, but many faiths venerate the same Saints, Orishas, Loas, Inkices and Angels.
They represent the forces of nature which are everywhere. They are celebrated with local names, images and traditions, but if you strip all that away, we are left with the energies of Mother Earth. Isn’t that wonderful?
We make the mistake of naming them, claiming them and then fighting over who traditions are the “right” ones. There is no right or wrong. There is only the sun, the moon, the wind and the sea, and so on.
Tolerance is part of being a New Yorker.
We don’t represent any religion
We write about faith in the hope that sharing traditions leads to the discovery of our common humanity. Whatever way makes sense to you, may you and your family be blessed.
